8 Father's Day Gift Ideas

By:  Becky Davenport

Here is to you Dad and all the hours you have spent over this year dedicated to us, worrying about us, and devoting your life to us.  We know that you work hard and sometimes you even take time out to play hard, now this day is our day to give back to you!

8 Things that Dad might want this Father’s Day

Dad has to eat, but where shall we take Dad?  How about Ray’s of Kelso!  Ray’s offers unique dinning, a great atmosphere, and you can beat the Sunday rush by heading down a day early and catch AKA Chimes of Freedom Band.

We know that Dad likes to get away and fish away your worries, so this year we are going to give it to you in style.  How about Fly Casting Lessons at Jim Rogers Fly School in Lebanon, MO?  The school offers basic lessons or private lessons.  Well once he gets his cast on, he must practice, or at least enjoy his new skill.  A cabin at Bennett Spring State Park will complete his fishing trip and he will think he has gone to fishing heaven.

Does Dad like to cook…if so send him my way, just kidding, but we could upgrade his cooking equipment!  Have you seen the line a grills at Kenco in Cape Girardeau, rather your shopping big or small Kenco can help you find a grill to fit dad’s needs.

Many Dads use the shotgun threat, or at least my dad use to threaten my future prospects with one, so why don’t we help Dad brush up on his skills with some skeet shooting at Apple Creek Conservation Area with Cape Girardeau County Gun Club

Dads often like to think back to when they were children, or they like to tell us stories of the way “things use to be," How about sneaking over to Annie Lauries Antiques in Cape Girardeau and checking out some stuff from “the way things use to be” sure to bring Dad back to his childhood days and paint that smile on his face.

Maybe Dad is a bit of an “adventuring” kind of guy. I know my dad is not…leave that to me, but maybe your dad is.  If Dad is looking for an adventure, or if you are looking to add excitement to his life think about The Off-Sets at Mine La Motte, MO.  They offer zip lines, scuba diving, and a great place to spend the day.

We have all bought Dad a crazy tie to bling up his style, but now we can also bling up his vehicle with CANEDY Sign & Graphics.  Did you know they offer anything from magnetic logos to complete vehicle wraps?  Of course, Dad may not appreciate it if we wrap his vehicle with an I Love Dad sticker, but if he has a favorite hobby, he might not mind a little bling to his ride.

Is Dad a beer drinker or for that fact is Dad a wine drinker?  If so, make your shopping easy and head to Primo Vino for gift shopping needs.  Primo Vino offers a variety of wines, spirits, and now the popular micro-brewed beers.

Here is just a few ways to tell Dad that your glad he is your Dad. I know I would not be who I am had my Dad not drug me along, forced me to learn to drive a tractor, and reminded me daily that I could do anything I put my head to…..Dads are good for that.  However, no matter what you decide to get dear old Dad this Father’s Day the best gift ever is that it came from your heart!

Here is to my Dad, my kid’s Dad, and all the Dads in the world…May you have blessed and wonderful Father’s Day full of love and happiness!
