Comedy for a Cure at Port Cape

By:  Becky Davenport

Cancer is no laughing matter, but here is a comical and musical way to give back to those who are in need.  Port Cape, Headley Grange, and several  local comedians are coming together to give you a night of laughs, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society by way of the Relay for Life.

Local comedians will be serving up the laughs; Scott City native Louie Benson describes his comical style as “not really having a style just yet.”  Benson adds, “If I find it funny, I’ll talk about it and I often find myself comparing my dating life to the catch of Pokémon."   We all have a dating life like the catch of Pokemon right?....Benson is bound to be hilarious!

From faraway, but still close by, Carbondale’s Ross Kelly plans to bring you to laughs with his love of one-line jokes, and his unique observations.  Louie Benson says, “It’s hard to really put your finger on his style, you just have to see him” and really you just have to see him and all the other great comedians that will take the stage with Comedy For a Cure

Catch Benson, Kelly, and other local comedians Friday March 30, 2012 drinks start at 8:00 pm and comedy starting at 9:00 pm at Port Cape in Downtown Cape Girardeau, MO.

Following the guaranteed laughs stick around as Headley Grange takes the stage to finish off the night.  The members of Headley Grange come from diverse musical genres and background, and put on a show like no other.  Mixing blues and rock, it has been said that Headley Grange takes you on musical roller coaster guaranteed to satisfy your music bone.

Tickets are $5 at the door and food and drinks will be available as well.
